ABOUT SALOC

San Antonio is proud to host its fifth NCAA Men’s Final Four in 2025. The San Antonio Local Organizing Committee (SALOC) is a 501c3 non-profit charged with planning and executing national events in San Antonio. SALOC is a partnership between San Antonio Sports, the City of San Antonio, Visit San Antonio, UTSA and UIW to host the 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four series of events and programs in San Antonio.

 

OVERVIEW

The Operations Manager will work hand-in-hand with the Director of Operations by executing key programs such as Fan Jam and other events and programs in support of city-wide planning related to the 2025 Men’s Final Four.

 

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong operations skills to include logistics planning, efficient set-up and tear-down as well as administrative technical skills to include Office Word and Excel, shared drives, calendars, scheduling and online meeting platforms. SALOC primarily utilizes Microsoft Teams, Dropbox and Smartsheet.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • This highly motivated person should possess good intellect, excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and experience in event operations and logistics. 

  • Serve as support for the Director of Operations, the NCAA staff, the SALOC team and the broader community at large with a “can-do,” positive and upbeat attitude while working to achieve all parties’ desired outcomes for a successful city-wide event of national importance.

  • Coordinate with the SALOC team to ensure seamless, integrated planning and execution of all SALOC events and meetings to include:  

    • Work alongside other SALOC staff to manage operations and logistics for events, focusing on equipment and transportation needs, set up and tear down/load in and load out.

    • Work alongside Community Relations and Marketing/Communications to manage and provide logistics for community-related events including Dribble and Fan Jam. Staff and collaborate with internal partners on the Fan Jam schedule.

    • Assist the Chief of Staff in the execution of monthly planning meetings to include set-up of meeting space, transportation, AV, etc.

  • Manage and cultivate vendor relationships for supplies and equipment.

  • Maintain equipment inventory and storage.

  • Prepare event specific paperwork for proper deployment and operation of events such as timelines, event overview, set-up and tear down plan, schedules and wrap-up.

  • Lead the planning and execution of the Final Four Dribble to include securing the venue, coordinating road closures, registration and check-in process as well as ball inflation plan.

  • Coordinate with SALOC and NCAA partners to create sustainability plan and identify recycling and reuse of materials and supplies left over at the conclusion of the event.

  • Prepare reports and information for the Executive Director and NCAA as requested.

  • Other duties as required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of experience in event planning, operations, and/or project coordination.

  2. Excellent organizational, administrative and communication skills.

  3. Flexibility to work long hours including evenings and weekends when necessary.

  4. Operating knowledge of Windows-based software including PowerPoint, Excel, Word. Google Sheets/Docs/Forms, SharePoint, Dropbox, MailChimp a plus.

  5. Ability to work with little or no supervision, quickly and under pressure.

  6. Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.

  7. Lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly, work outdoors and stand for long periods of time

  8. Valid driver’s license (Be prepared to use personal vehicle to travel to and from site all of which will be within Bexar County.)

  9. Ability to drive a box truck and/or vehicle pulling trailer.

 

TERM:  April 1, 2024 – April 18, 2025 (Must be available to travel to Phoenix on April 8, 2024 to drive the Fan Jam truck back to San Antonio.)

 

POSITION:  This is a full-time, in-office, contractor position. Benefits are not included. Reliable transportation and laptop required. Office space and equipment provided. Relocation expenses not included. Compensation commensurate with experience. Must pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license.
